The Obituary
A time to be born….. Karen Teresa Mills was born to Willie Mae Mills (Footman) and Levester E. Mills on December 6, 1960 in Bethesda Maryland and departed this life after a brief illness on Friday, February 21, 2014, at Doctor’s
Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland.

A time toGrow……Karen attended the public schools of the District of Columbia, and graduated from Chamberlain High School.

A time to accept Christ…..Karen accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, at St. Paul AUMP Church where she worked with the youth ministry and choir director for many years. She accepted her calling to the ministry…
A time to work………Karen was employed with the Paralyze Veterans Administration, Gannett Incorporated and Melwood where she later retired after her disability. She had a passion for special needs and disabled adults.
A time to Love…Karen was married to James (JB) Brown and out of this union one child was born a son Jason C. Brown.
A time to Rest…..Karen leaves to cherish her legacy and memories to her mother Willie Mae and Step-Father Nathaniel Footman, son Jason C. Brown
(Jocelyn Butler), two grandsons Jason, Jr. and Justin Brown, one sister Dorothy Giles, three brothers, James (Regina) Mills, Melvin Mills (Danielle Cole) , Sherman (Delois) Mills; Three nieces, Kisha White, Tyra Sampson, and Joy Elizabeth Mills, a nephew Davon Joyner; five aunts, Helen, Erma Jean, Mary Alice, Jeanette, Roxanne; two uncles, David and Benjamin Hopkins, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Special friends Bruce and Anne D. DarConte.

Karen was preceded in death by her father Levester E. Mills, and three uncles; Joseph, Edward and Willis.
